Roofs to Roads Colorado
Paving the Way for
Asphalt Shingle Recycling and Re-Use

History:
With support from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Boulder County, and Asphalt Specialties Company, Inc., 3R Roofing and WorkLife Consulting joined forces to launch the Roofs to Roads project in February of 2009.

Update:
In February 2009, Roofs to Roads received a grant from the State of Colorado to get shingle recycling off the ground. This funding ended as of January 2010; however we are happy to report our program will be continuing.

Our Goals:
  • to collect 5,000 tons of shingles from roofing demolition projects (16,000 tons to date)
  • to pave a road in Boulder County with recycled asphalt shingles from Tear-Offs (one project complete, on North 63rd Street in Boulder County), and
  • to support the development of markets for this technology, and facilitate more paving projects throughout the state.
